About Us

Triangle HVAC Training, LLC. was founded to provide high-caliber training and educational services to dedicated heating and air conditioning, plumbing and electrical professionals. After having helped many individuals to prepare for various skilled trade licensing and certification examinations, it became apparent that there was a dire need for competent industry instruction. We have been working to meet this demand since 2006 by offering high-quality, immersive training, continuing education, and license preparation classes. Our goal is to help those who are serious and dedicated to achieve success!

Our instructor, Anthony Maynor, has spent his entire career, since before graduating from high school, working in the heating and air conditioning industry along with the related plumbing and electrical trades. Starting out as an installer’s helper and working his way through all roles and aspects of the trade, eventually starting his own business. He owned and operated a successful HVAC business for over 23 years, receiving multiple industry awards and accreditations.

He has a degree in Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology from Wake Technical Community College, graduating with High Honors. He is NATE and IGSHPA certified and is also qualified as an unlimited/master licensee in multiple states, including North Carolina, where he currently holds an Unlimited Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor License, an Unlimited Electrical Contractor License, an Unlimited Plumbing Contractor License, an Unlimited Refrigeration Contractor License, a Residential Fire Sprinkler Contractor License, and a General Contractor License.

Anthony is qualified as a N.C. Department of Insurance (NCDOI) Level 3 – “Unlimited” Mechanical and Electrical Inspector. He is also a NCDOI certified instructor for mechanical and electrical inspector training and continuing education. Additionally, he has been actively teaching heating and air conditioning certification and continuing education classes through the local community college, HVAC distributors, the U.S. military and state & national contractor trade associations to those in the HVAC service, installation, and inspections fields since 2006. He serves on the HVAC/R Industry Advisory Committee for W.T.C.C. and also on the Technical Services Committee for the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA).

Anthony is also an airline transport rated pilot and an FAA certified Gold Seal Flight instructor in single & multi-engine airplanes. In his spare time, he enjoys teaching and sharing his passion for aviation with others.

HVAC License Preparation

We provide the training needed to help you prepare to take the N.C. H1, H2, and/or H3 license exam. Our class is three full days, which allows us time to actually teach you how to not only use the reference books effectively, but more importantly, how to apply the information in these books and manuals to be able to solve the types of questions presented on the exams. The exams are challenging and include topics such as: residential load calculations, duct design and sizing, commercial load calculations, gas pipe sizing, chimney and vent sizing, combustion air calculations, blueprint reading, building codes, licensing laws, business practices and many other related topics. You need to know more about the reference books than just simply highlighting, you must know how to effectively use them to answer practical application types of questions!

We strive to teach you to go beyond just highlighting and rote memorization, and instead focus on helping you to understand the “why and how,” so that you can apply critical thinking and reasoning skills and be able to effectively correlate this information to solve the problems presented. We actually spend time working through sample questions and calculations throughout the course so that you leave with a foundation of knowledge that you can build upon through continued study and practice on your own. Our course fee includes a printed study guide that contains review questions which are designed to help improve your knowledge and proficiency through continued practice and repetition.

TESTIMONIALS

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I passed my H3-1 exam today on my first attempt. I appreciate your teaching style and there’s no way I could have done it without your help!

-E.J.

Thank you very much for all of your help, I passed my exam the first time and felt very confident! Your class was invaluable. The amount of time you spent making sure we had plenty of practice in class and actually understood the material was very helpful. I followed your advice, studied the way you recommended and it definitely made all the difference! Thank you again!

-Jim F.

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that I was able to pass my H1, H2 and H3 exams! Your class and training made this possible. Thank you so much for all of the care and attention to detail that you provided!

-E.P.

Your class was incredible! I initially took a prep class offered by another provider and I failed the exam miserably. After attending your class, I was able to take and pass my H3, H2 and H1 exams and I PASSED them all readily!! You and your teaching style made this possible. This was by far one of the best classes I have ever attended!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

-J.W.

I just wanted to express my deepest gratitude to Anthony Maynor. I had taken an H3 class from another instructor who promised that his class would help me pass my H3 exam on the first try. Unfortunately, I was not able to pass either part, not even close – very disappointing. I then heard about Anthony - I signed up for the class and it was great, very interesting and informative. It was better than I ever imagined, especially compared to the other one. Anthony is such a great teacher! Everybody enjoyed the teaching, he spent his time wisely and tried his best to help everyone that needed extra help, like myself, because English is my second language. After the class was over, I spent my time wisely, studied as he suggested and went back to take test. It was so great this time, I felt well prepared and passed it with flying colors! Thank you so much Anthony Maynor, you made this a great year for me and my family! May the Lord bless you with more wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

-P.G.

No. The classroom portion of our course focuses on the H3-1 exam, which covers everything you need to learn about for an H1 and/or H2 exam as well! There is only one “different” book needed for the H1 or H2, which we cover in a private “breakout” session for our H1 and H2 students during our regular class timeframe.

We provide a comprehensive course, which allows enough time to fully review all of the exam reference materials, including time to work through and review practice questions. Actual hands-on practice and repetition is especially important to the learning process. This is a high caliber course, designed to assist serious, dedicated professionals achieve their goals.

Here are a few guidelines that have proven effective for many of our students:

  1. Make time to study EVERY DAY.
  2. Look up every answer reference and/or calculate every time you do a sample question, even if you know the correct answer. Knowing what information can be found in each book and being proficient with the procedures and calculations is key.
  3. Do not memorize or guess. You must strive to understand the material and be able to apply it.
  4. Do not rush to take the exam. Those who do the best usually take at least 2 - 3 months to study and prepare, often attending class more than once to help them learn the subjects in greater detail.

Yes. We always recommend attending the full course initially, and then taking some time to study and practice on your own first. This allows you to develop a clearer understanding of the subject areas that need more attention, which allows us to tailor the private training session(s) to make the most effective use of your time.
